“It’s wonderful to see the community continue to enjoy their zoo. Our goal is to provide visitors of all ages with one amazing experience after another.”
- Ron L. Kagan, Executive Director/CEO, Detroit Zoological Society
By giving to the Detroit Zoological Society, you can make a real difference in Celebrating and Saving Wildlife. From large transformative gifts with outcomes like the Arctic Ring of Life and Cotton Family Wetlands to general support that helps us provide memorable experiences and rich education programs, gifts of all kinds are important to the current and future success of the Detroit Zoological Society.
General Operating Support
Admission fees and membership dues cover only a portion of what it really takes to operate the Detroit Zoo and the Belle Isle Nature Zoo on a day-to-day basis. Contributions of all sizes make a critical difference, providing support for the care and feeding of animals, a wide array of education and conservation programs, veterinary care, maintenance and upkeep of the Zoo’s exhibits, park safety and security, and everyday needs like lighting, heating and cooling. Renaissance Circle Membership
The Renaissance Circle is a special category of membership for donors who generously give $1,500 or more each year to support the Zoo’s general operating needs. Endowment and Planned Giving
A strong endowment provides financial security to non-profit organizations like the Detroit Zoological Society. When you contribute to an endowment fund, your gift is held in perpetuity while investment earnings help to maintain the beauty of your Zoo, care for the animals, or support conservation or education programs. For larger gifts, endowment funds and the programs they support can be named, providing a great way to leave your legacy or honor a loved one.
Many donors choose to make a lasting impact by including the Detroit Zoological Society in their will or through other charitable giving plans. “Planned Giving” brings together your charitable, family and financial goals and allows you to make a very meaningful gift. Some planned gifts can provide immediate tax advantages and income for the rest of your life, while others will be completed after your lifetime. Individuals who make us aware of their planned gift will be recognized as members of the Wildlife Legacy Circle, and may qualify for special benefits as well.
