What is the date of Zoo Brew?
The event will be held on Friday, September 28, 6 – 10:30 p.m.
What is included?
Tickets include admission to the event, live entertainment, 12 tasting tickets (excluding Designated Drivers), exclusive access to the Zoo's award-winning habitats at twilight, zookeeper talks and animal enrichment experiences, complimentary guided tram tours and parking.
Will the Zoo be open?
Yes, the entire Zoo will be open until dark. Animals will be out in their habitats. Animal buildings including the Arctic Ring of Life, National Amphibian Conservation Center and Great Apes of Harambee as well as the Australian Outback Adventure will be open until 8 p.m. The Holden Museum of Living Reptiles will be open until 9 p.m. The Penginarium and Wildlife Interpretive Gallery will be closed. After dark, guests will be asked to stay east of the Horace H. Rackham Memorial Fountain for safety and lighting.
What are the "tasting tickets" for?
Each guest (excluding Designated Drivers) will receive tasting tickets at the event. The tasting tickets are good for sample pours. For Zoo Brew guests receive 12 tasting tickets each good for a 3 oz. sample pour. Additional tickets may be purchased at the event.
What is a "tram tour"?
Complimentary guided trams tours (similar to a trolley) will operate until dark. Tram rides are free and will loop around the Zoo from the Events Pavilion to the back of the Zoo. Several tram stops will be stationed along the tram route for guests to board or disembark. The tram route will be printed in the program distributed at the event.
What are zookeeper talks and animal enrichment?
Zookeeper talks will be scheduled throughout the evening. Guests will be able to meet with zookeepers at various animal habitats, learn exciting and fun facts about the Zoo's animal residents and ask questions. Animal enrichment will be scheduled throughout the evening as well. Zookeepers will create unique animal enrichment tools such as treat-filled piñatas or ice blocks for the animals to explore and play with to encourage their natural behaviors.
How much do tickets cost?
Tickets are $30 if purchased by September 21. After September 21, tickets are $35. Tickets will be available at the gates for $35 if the event is not sold out. Tickets may sell out so purchase tickets early! Designated Driver tickets can be purchased in advance or at the gates for $20. Must be 21 or over; photo ID required.
What is a "Designated Driver" ticket?
Designated Driver tickets are available for $20 in advance or at the gates. Designated Drivers must be 21-and-over. Designated Drivers will not receive drink tickets and will not be allowed to consume alcohol at the event. Designated Drivers receive unlimited free soft drinks at the event.
Can I still purchase tickets at the gate if the event is sold out?
Only Designated Driver tickets will be available at the gates if the event is sold out. Designated Drivers will not receive tasting tickets and will not be permitted to consume alcohol at the event.
How can I buy tickets?
Tickets are available online, by phone at (248) 541-5717 press 9, or at Window One at the Zoo's main admissions.
When can I buy tickets?
Tickets are available on June 25 for Zoo Members, and July 2 for non-members. Tickets are available at the gates the night of the event as long as the event is not sold out. However, Designated Driver tickets will still be available at the gates. Tickets may sell out, so guests are encouraged to purchase tickets early!
Are concessions available?
Yes, food will be available for purchase. There will be a grill tent featuring items such as burgers and bratwursts as well as beer-inspired food. Non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase. Designated Drivers receive unlimited free soft drinks.
Will the rides be operating?
No, rides will not be operating at the event.
Is there a charge for parking?
No, parking is included.
Do I need photo ID?
Yes, photo ID is required. Guests must be 21-and-over. Designated Drivers must be 21-and-over.
Can I receive a refund?
No, ticket sales are FINAL. No refunds or exchanges. The event is held rain or shine.
What methods of payment will be taken at the event?
Cash or credit (Visa, Mastercard or Amex) will be taken at the event for food sales and extra tasting ticket sales.
