Sunset at the Zoo
June 10Details To Be Announced
More than 2,100 “party animals” joined the Detroit Zoological Society and co-chairs Ashley Crain and Kelle Ilitch on Friday, June 12, 2015, for Sunset at the Zoo “Summer Chill,” the spectacular, creatively wild, 21-and-older annual fundraising gala. This year’s Sunset at the Zoo, presented by Strategic Staffing Solutions, built excitement for the Detroit Zoo’s future Polk Penguin Conservation Center.
Guests enjoyed an exquisite strolling supper and dessert reception featuring signature dishes from more than 45 of metro Detroit’s best restaurants, plus a hosted bar featuring zoo-themed martinis and specialty drinks. Sunset offered incredible live entertainment from longtime favorite The Jerry Ross Band and dancing under the stars. Plus, guests had the chance to win “zoonique” prizes in the live and silent auctions, and try their luck with the ever-popular Sunset Keys.
The VIP Reception, presented by DeMaria Wharton-Smith JV, kicked off the evening’s festivities at the future Polk Penguin Conservation Center. Later, guests strolled among the Zoo’s award-winning habitats at twilight and enjoyed a great party centered around the Rackham Fountain and Events Pavilion.
Sunset at the Zoo is not just a great party – it raises critical funds to support the Detroit Zoological Society and our mission of Celebrating and Saving Wildlife. This year’s Sunset at the Zoo earned a net revenue of over a half a million dollars!
Thank you to all of the incredibly generous sponsors, restaurants, distributors and individuals who donated their time, talents and resources to make this year’s event a success!
