Archive: Military Offered Free Detroit Zoo Admission on Veterans Day

November 10, 2015

ROYAL OAK, Mich.,

In observance of Veterans Day, the Detroit Zoological Society (DZS) is inviting all U.S. military veterans and one guest to enjoy a free day at the Detroit Zoo on November 11.

The offer applies to all active military as well as veterans honorably discharged and retired with ID (including Form DD-214).

Veterans Day visitors will find that autumn is the perfect time to visit the Detroit Zoo.  As the temperatures drop, many of the animals become more active outdoors, including the gray wolves, arctic foxes, wolverines, tigers and Japanese macaques.  The Zoo’s newborn red panda cub, Tofu, can often be seen exploring her habitat with mom, Ta-Shi, and dad, Shifu.

The DZS was designated a bronze-level Veteran Friendly Employer by the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA) in early 2015 in recognition of its commitment to supporting veterans of the U.S. military.
