ROYAL OAK, Mich., March 23, 2012 – The 2011 Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition – a collection of images from the world’s largest and most prestigious wildlife photography competition – returns to the Detroit Zoo’s Ford Education Center March 31, 2012, for the seventh consecutive year.  The exhibition runs through June 17, 2012, and is free with Zoo admission.

The exhibition features 108 photographs dramatically displayed as illuminated large-format color transparencies.  The winning images were chosen from more than 40,000 entries by aspiring amateurs and established professional photographers from all corners of the earth.

This spectacular exhibition outdoes itself each year, showcasing the very best photographic images of wildlife from around the world,” said Ron Kagan, Executive Director of the Detroit Zoological Society.

A hardback commemorative portfolio book of the winning photographs is available for sale at Zoofari Market.

Now in its 47th year, the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition is co-owned by the Natural History Museum, London and BBC Worldwide.
