E-Recycling Event at the Detroit Zoo

April 15 & 16 | 9 a.m. – noon | Free event | Registration required

Earn a reward for recycling at the Detroit Zoo!

The Detroit Zoological Society (DZS) is proud to partner with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy to host an E-Recycling Event at the Detroit Zoo. From 9 a.m. to noon April 15-16, the DZS will help the community divert waste from local landfills by collecting acceptable electronics (see list below). Items to be recycled can be dropped off at the large surface parking lot along 10 Mile Road.

Not only is it free to participate in this event, but you can also earn a reward for doing so! For each driver who brings items for recycling, the DZS will gift one admission ticket (two for large loads) to the Detroit Zoo, redeemable through Dec. 31, 2023. You can use your ticket the same day you receive it when you join us for GreenFest! This eco-friendly festival features live music, a marketplace to purchase sustainably sourced products, educational activities, access to the Zoo’s 125 acres and much more. GreenFest takes place 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 15-16 at the Detroit Zoo.

What can you recycle at the E-Recycling Event at the Detroit Zoo?

  • Computers and laptops

Clear tape helps in properly identifying chemistries. Uncovered terminals on the specified chemistries are fire hazards.
