Electronic Waste Collection Event
Help protect gorillas by recycling electronic waste!
The Detroit Zoo will be hosting a free electronic waste collection event on November 15 and 16 from noon to 6 p.m.
By recycling e-waste, you help reduce the demand for coltan. Coltan is a mineral found in phones and other small electronics. It is mined from areas where endangered gorillas live. Recycling these items helps reduce the demand for coltan and protects gorilla habitats in Africa.
SPECIAL OFFER! Each driver who brings electronic waste will receive a voucher for one free admission to the Detroit Zoo, valid during regular hours any Monday through Thursday in 2021. Up to two vouchers can be provided to a participant who coordinates a drop-off with multiple households and brings a full vehicle of items that need to be recycled. Voucher is not valid for Wild Lights and cannot be combined with other promotions.
ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED:
- Old tube TVs
- Old monitors (cathode ray tubes)
We cannot accept the items above due to them containing hazardous materials. If you are in need of disposing such items, please contact DTE here.
