Boo at the Nature Zoo returns October 29

October 13, 2016

DETROIT, Mich.,

The Belle Isle Nature Zoo will host its eighth annual Boo at the Nature Zoo Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Guests can go on a scavenger hunt and walk an indoor forest trail to search for treats to the sounds of Halloween at this free event.  Children are encouraged to wear costumes and bring their own treat bags; bags will not be handed out at the event.

“This annual experience provides a great way for families to get into the Halloween spirit.  It’s a fun and safe way to go trick-or-treating in a unique and beautiful setting,” said Ron Kagan, executive director and CEO of the Detroit Zoological Society (DZS).

Operated by the DZS, the Belle Isle Nature Zoo sits on a 5-acre site surrounded by undisturbed forested wetlands on Belle Isle in Detroit.  The facility features indoor animal habitats, a bee exhibit, bird observation window, outdoor native butterfly garden, outdoor classrooms and the Blue Heron Lagoon nature trail.  A Deer Encounter allows guests to feed the fallow deer while learning about their history.
