Archive: Zoo Boo is Back for Nine Days in October

September 22, 2021

ROYAL OAK, Mich.,

All 125 acres of the Detroit Zoo will be open for this annual “merry-not-scary” Halloween celebration. Presented by Beaumont Children’s, Zoo Boo will be held October 8-10, 15-17 and 22-24, from 2 to 6 p.m., rain or shine. The Zoo will close at 1 p.m. on those days to prepare for the event.

Family-friendly favorites from past Zoo Boo events will return, including extreme pumpkin carving, mesmerizing mimes, a flash mob, superhero reenactments, a joking juggler and the live musical stage show Zoo Boo Revue.

The entire Zoo will be open, allowing guests to visit all their favorite animals while stopping for photo opportunities and educational activities. Guests young and old are encouraged to wear costumes and every child will receive a goodie bag. Please note, this is not a trick-or-treating event.

Ticket prices for Zoo Boo vary from $13 to $19 based on day and time. Children younger than two are admitted free. Pre-sale time slots for Zoo Boo are 2 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 3 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Parking is $8 per car for all Members and guests. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Walk-up tickets will not be sold at the gate.

Zoo Boo guests can take a one-way ride on the Tauber Family Railroad for $3 per person or go for a spin on the Carousel, sponsored by Meijer, for $3 per person.
