Day at the Zoo

What the Day at the Zoo Program Provides

The Day at the Zoo (DATZ) program provides an opportunity for students to experience the Detroit Zoo by awarding financial assistance to classrooms where funds may be limited. Made possible by generous donors, including those who have contributed to the David K. Page Fund. Funding cannot be guaranteed and is limited. When the number applications exceed available funds a random lottery will be used to determine what applications are funded.

In-Person Class includes:

• Admission to the Zoo for all students.
• Admission to the Zoo for one adult chaperone per every five students (maximum of seven chaperones).
• An age-appropriate learning lab with a Zoo educator, including a pre- and post-activity.
• A bus transportation stipend.
