My experience in the Project Dragonfly program has been deeply rewarding. Being part of a group of like-minded individuals—each pursuing the same degree but coming from different backgrounds and walks of life—was one of the most meaningful aspects of the journey.

Throughout the program, I grew both academically and personally while tackling challenges that required balance, perseverance, and creativity. Completing inquiry and field projects helped me develop practical skills in research, communication, and leadership.

Overall, Project Dragonfly has strengthened my commitment to conservation and reinforced the value of collaborative learning and diverse perspectives (in addition to inquiry and community).

This has truly been a wonderful experience. It did not feel like a “traditional” master's program, and I really enjoyed that.

I got to really focus on the topics I wanted to, and dive deep into different conservation topics that resonated with me. I am so proud of the work I’ve done, and I've gotten to do some amazing things.

From an internship with the DZS fine and performing arts/education department, to visiting Guyana, I got to experience things I never would have. I am a very different person (in the best way possible) than when I first started this program, and DZS, Project Dragonfly, and my cohort are part of the reason.

I am so grateful for my experience, and I hope to continue being involved with Project Dragonfly and the Zoo.

My journey through the Project Dragonfly Advanced Inquiry Program has been both transformative and deeply personal. As a farm manager and educator, I entered the program seeking ways to better connect communities to the natural systems that sustain them. Through Dragonfly, I found both the academic framework and the supportive network to grow as a learner and leader.

Some of my most meaningful experiences came from turning coursework into community action, co-creating composting experiences, leading youth in conservation storytelling, and creating programs that wove science, empathy, and stewardship together. Balancing graduate studies with full-time leadership brought its challenges, but each one strengthened my voice and deepened my sense of purpose as a conservation educator.
