African Lion

(Panthera leo)

In the wild, African lions live in social groups called prides, which consist of multiple females, their young and a few males. The pride at the Detroit Zoo features females Asha and Amirah, who have been part of the Zoo family since 2019, along with Kalu, a male lion who joined the pride in November 2024.
