Alligator Newt

(Echinotriton andersoni)

Alligator newts are originally native to evergreen forests, grasslands and swamps in Japan and Taiwan. They are now extinct in Taiwan. At the Detroit Zoo, these amphibians thrive in a habitat that has plenty of space to burrow.
