Bush Dog

(Speothos venaticus)

Coming Soon

The bush dog pack at the Detroit Zoo — including parents Churro and Dulce, eldest daughter Mirabel and two young pups — is currently spending time behind the scenes caring for the newest additions to the family. Just like in human families, it takes a village to raise bush dog pups, and every member of the pack helps care for the babies. In the wild, these small, stout canines are native to Central and South America. Once the pups who call the Zoo home become more independent, guests will be able to visit the entire pack inside Fred and Barbara Erb Discovery Trails.
