Chimpanzee

(Pan troglodytes)

The Detroit Zoo is home to a troop of 11 chimpanzees, who roam freely around their spacious habitat. Nakili, born on July 4, 2025, to mother Nyani, is the newest addition to the group. Other young chimps include Tai, who was born in May 2023, along with Zane, born in 2020, and Jane, born in 2018.
