Spur-Winged Lapwing

(Vanellus spinosus)

Spur-winged lapwings are olive-brown birds with white necks and bellies. This species dives from above and uses their spurs to frighten potential predators or intruders away from their nests or chicks. They also have a loud bird call, often sounded off at night, which sounds very similar to an alarm clock.
