Discover, connect and learn at the Detroit Zoo’s monthly Animal Day Celebrations!

Each month, we will spotlight a featured animal or topic with an in-person celebration full of fun and discovery. Included with Zoo admission, these events offer opportunities to learn from our animal care team, enjoy hands-on activities and collect exclusive Animal Day Passport Cards unique to each event. Join us and explore the wonders of the animal kingdom!

  • Jan. 4 — National Bird Day (education stations located in the Ron Kagan Wildlife Interpretive Gallery)
  • Feb. 22 — International Polar Bear Day (education stations located at the Arctic Ring of Life habitat)
  • Mar. 22 — World Frog Day
  • Apr. 19 — Earth Day
  • May 31 — World Otter Day
  • Jun. 21 — World Giraffe Day
  • Jul. 19 — World Snake Day
  • Aug. 16 — Panamanian Golden Frog Day
  • Sep. 20 — Red Panda Day
  • Oct. 18 — Kangaroo Awareness Day
  • Nov. 1 — National Bison Day
  • Dec. 6 — World Wildlife Conservation Day
