Animal Day Celebrations

Discover, connect and learn at the Detroit Zoo’s monthly Animal Day Celebrations!

Each month, we will spotlight a featured animal or topic with an in-person celebration full of fun and discovery. Included with Zoo admission, these events offer opportunities to learn from our animal care team, enjoy hands-on activities and collect exclusive Animal Day Passport Cards unique to each event. Join us and explore the wonders of the animal kingdom!

  • Jan. 6- National Bird Day (education stations located in the Ron Kagan Wildlife Interpretive Gallery)
  • Feb. 28- International Polar Bear Day (education stations located at the Arctic Ring of Life Exploration Station)
  • Mar. 21- World Frog Day
  • Apr. 25 – World Penguin Day
  • May 16- World Turtle Day
  • Jun. 27- World Giraffe Day
  • Jul. 18- World Snake Day
  • Aug. 15- Panamanian Golden Frog Day
  • Sep. 26- World Gorilla Day
  • Oct. 31 – World Lemur Day
  • Nov. 14- National Bison Day
  • Dec. 5- World Wildlife Conservation Day
