Butterfly wings, covered in thousands of iridescent scales, showcase some of nature’s most vibrant colors and intricate patterns. These remarkable species span the full spectrum of the color wheel, inspiring both scientific wonder and artistic expression.
Come to the Ford Education Center to explore hands-on experiences for all ages, including the opportunity to design your own butterfly and release it into a vibrant digital habitat space! Watch your unique creation as it flutters through the virtual garden and swoops down to sip nectar from a nearby flower. Don’t miss your chance to see these winged wonders before the exhibit flies to another gallery!
This exhibition was created by the Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in Columbus, Ohio. It also features the work of the Colored Pencil Society of America District Chapter 104 of Detroit, Michigan. For more than 30 years, CPSA Detroit #104 has brought colored pencil artists together for workshops, demonstrations, exhibitions, guest speakers and member connections across southeast Michigan. Together, we are creating meaningful connections between people, animals and the natural world so all can thrive.
