Celebrate Sustainability

Greenfest, presented by Consumers Energy, invites guests of all ages to explore how simple actions can support a healthier environment for people, animals and nature. It’s two days of hands-on learning, creative exploration and community connection that promises to spark curiosity.

Greenfest activities are located throughout the Zoo. All festival experiences are included with admission and free for members.

Hand-Painted Rain Barrel Raffle

Enter for a chance to take home a beautifully hand-painted rain barrel. Just show proof of a sustainable action, such as using a refillable bottle or choosing a low-waste commute.

Actions may include:

  • Bringing a reusable water bottle to fill during their Zoo visit.
  • Bringing a reusable bag to use at the Mindfully Made Market.
  • Used an alternative form of transportation to get to the Zoo (ex. rode a bike, carpooled, took the bus)
  • Please show us your bus ticket or a photo of your bike/carpool group.
  • Food brought to the Zoo is stored in a reusable container.
  • Posted on social media about the event or posted their visit while at Greenfest (please show us your post).

Keep the eco-fun going at the Belle Isle Nature Center.

The green fun continues on Belle Isle! Head over to the Belle Isle Nature Center for even more sustainability-inspired excitement — including eco-friendly crafts, nature hikes, beekeeper talks and more. Admission to the Nature Center is free, and no registration is required.
