April 11 - 12, 2026
Go wild for the planet at this eco-festival celebrating sustainability, conservation and the art of living a greener life.
Greenfest, presented by Consumers Energy, invites guests of all ages to explore how simple actions can support a healthier environment for people, animals and nature. It’s two days of hands-on learning, creative exploration and community connection that promises to spark curiosity.
Greenfest activities are located throughout the Zoo. All festival experiences are included with admission and free for members.
Green Showcase & Mindfully Made Market
A pop-up marketplace lets you browse eco-friendly goods and chat with local makers. Meet local environmental organizations, learn about conservation work happening in our region and discover ways to support sustainability here in metro Detroit. Plus a lineup of sustainable-minded food trucks in the Main Picnic Grove.
Arts & Scraps Creation Stations
Young guests can enjoy free, hands-on projects using repurposed materials. Each activity turns creativity into a conversation about reuse and resourcefulness.
Drumline Experience
Follow the rhythm during your Greenfest visit — a drumline (with instruments made from upcycled materials) brings the celebration to life.
Enter for a chance to take home a beautifully hand-painted rain barrel. Just show proof of a sustainable action, such as using a refillable bottle or choosing a low-waste commute.
Plan Your Visit
Our community compost tradition is back! Collect nutrient-rich compost made from the animals who call the Zoo home. Please bring your own bucket.
