Nature is Waiting

There’s something about practicing yoga a few steps from wildlife that a studio can never replicate. Summer Yoga at the Zoo pairs 60-minute, all-levels classes with locations across the Detroit Zoo, rotating to a different habitat each class. Every session includes a zookeeper chat explaining the animals you’re practicing near.

Popular sessions fill up early. Don't leave your spot in child's pose.

New for 2026

  • A class near the lion habitat, where three young cubs have been settling in
  • Tuesday evening sessions from 6-7 p.m. for the post-work yogis
  • Classes inside the Fred and Barbara Erb Discovery Trails
  • Boardwalk sessions return to spotlight wetland species

What to Expect

  • A 60-minute yoga class led by a certified instructor
  • Outdoor settings throughout the Zoo
  • Complimentary parking and Zoo admission
  • Limited class size for a more focused experience
  • An exclusive Zookeeper Chat

2026 Schedule & Locations

From cobra poses with the reptiles to planks with the penguins, each of our winter yoga sessions offers something unique. Pick your favorite location — or five!
