What are Wild Summer Nights?

Wild Summer Nights are extended-hours Wednesdays at the Detroit Zoo in June, July and August. The Zoo stays open until 8 p.m., and live music plays in the picnic grove from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Admission is free for members and half price for everyone else after 6 p.m.

How much does it cost?

Wild Summer Nights are free for Detroit Zoo members. For non-members, admission is half price after 6 p.m. — $13 general, $12 for youth and persons 62 and older. Half-price tickets are sold at the front gate only.

Is Erb Discovery Trails open during Wild Summer Nights?

Yes. Erb Discovery Trails is open and included with admission. Wild Explorer VR and Aaron and Carolynn Frankel Stingray Cove require additional purchase. Frankel Stingray Cove will close at 4:30 p.m. for the health and well-being of the animals in our care.

What happens if it rains?

Wild Summer Nights take place rain or shine. In the event of severe weather, performances may be adjusted — check our social channels before you head out.

Can I bring food or coolers?

Outside food and non-alcoholic beverages are permitted. Concessions will be open across the Zoo during Wild Summer Nights.

Select Wednesdays from June to August, the Zoo stays open until 8 p.m. Enjoy full access to habitats as the day cools off, catch live music in the picnic grove from 6 to 7:30 p.m., grab a bite, ride the carousel and explore the new Fred and Barbara Erb Discovery Trails.

Whether you stay for the music or a peaceful evening walk, this is your chance to make the most of Michigan summer nights — all included with your admission (and completely free for Zoo members).

After 6 p.m., general admission is half price.

Live music in the Main Picnic Grove from 6-7:30 p.m.
Access to animal habitats and buildings until 8 p.m.
Food and beverage + retail open late
Your favorite rides and attractions* — including Dinosauria, presented by Michigan First Credit Union, and Erb Discovery Trails — open late

*Aaron and Carolynn Frankel Stingray Cove will close at 4:30 p.m., and other select attractions will close at 5 p.m. to support guest safety and the health and well-being of the animals in our care.
