Earn your stripes when you join us for our first after-hours event of the year! Zoo Brew, presented by KeyBank, features a local selection of delicious brews to enjoy as you stroll the Zoo’s 125 acres.

What’s New at Zoo Brew 2023? 

Zoo Brew 2023 is all about zebras! Discover how the Detroit Zoological Society (DZS) supports exciting conservation projects, like the Grevy’s Zebra Trust (GZT). GZT works closely with the community rangelands of Kenya and Ethiopia to monitor and protect this endangered species. Their work includes education and rangeland rehabilitation programs! 

Zoo Brew 2023 will also feature a new VIP location! Located in the Main Picnic Grove, VIP guests will enjoy exclusive drink selections just a short trot from the main entrance.

All attendees must be 21 or older; photo ID is required. Parking is $8 per vehicle for all attendees.
*VIP food service closes at 8:30 p.m. 

Arrival

Please enter the Zoo through the main admission gates.

Have your photo ID ready to be checked upon arrival. Reminder, you must be 21 years of age or older to attend.

Parking

Parking is $8 per vehicle at the gate for all guests, including members. To prevent long lines, please purchase your parking pass before you arrive.

Event Details

A welcome tent will be set up near the entrance where you will receive a complimentary drink provided by Griffin Claw Brewing Co.!

If you are still thirsty, additional tastings will be available to purchase – one for $6 – in the Ford Education Center and the Carousel.

The train will be providing one-way trips from the Chrysler Main Station at the front of the Zoo to Africa Train Station located in the back of the Zoo. The last train will leave the Main Station at 8 p.m.

Animal habitats will be open until 8 p.m. and the back of the Zoo will be at 8:30 p.m. with the exception of the Holden Reptile Conservation Center (HRCC) and National Amphibian Conservation Center (NACC). The NACC and HRCC will be open until 9 p.m. The Wildlife Interpretive Gallery and Outback Adventure will be closed for the evening.

VIP Ticket Holders: The VIP lounge is located in Main Picnic Grove. Here, the four exclusive VIP tasting selections are available until last pour at 9:45 p.m., and exclusive food options are available until 8 p.m. You must show your VIP card to enter. Don’t forget to pick up you VIP gift in Main Picnic Grove!

Last call is at 9:30 p.m., and last pour is at 9:45 p.m. *

*The tasting selections at the back of the Zoo will close at 8:30 p.m.

Please remember that drinking and driving is dangerous to all. For your safety and convenience, you are welcome to leave your vehicle at the Detroit Zoo overnight for pickup tomorrow.

For guests wanting to use a rideshare app tonight, please set your pickup location to 25001 Woodward Ave. Your driver will be directed into the Woodward lot outside the main entrance near the Polk Penguin Conservation Center.

Cabs will also be stationed at the main entrance for your convenience and can be contacted at (877) GRN-TAXI.

This year’s Zoo Brew highlights zebra conservation and will raise awareness for the GZT, a nonprofit organization based in Kenya. By visiting Zoo Brew, you are directly supporting DZS wildlife conservation work across the globe.
