Field Trip Arrival Guide
Welcome
We are excited to welcome you and your students for a wild time at the Detroit Zoo! The following information contains everything you need to enjpipioy a smooth, fun visit for your school group. Please make sure to review the following before your arrival.
Our goal is to provide a fun, educational great Zoo experience in an environment that is safe and welcoming as possible for all.
Reservation Information:
Students and chaperones who arrive after the school group has been counted in at main admissions will be charged the full gate price if the prepaid total has been reached. If it has not been reached, then these guests will be admitted until the total is reached.
NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE.
Parking
Buses
Buses should arrive to the Zoo through the entrance located on parking lot via West 10 Mile Road, proceed straight and then make a left turn into the large parking lot. Our staff will be stationed there to guide you on where to drop off and park the bus.
Please remain as close to the left of the sidewalk when disembarking from your bus.
Chaperones
Chaperones arriving in cars may enter through either the West 10 Mile Road or
Woodward Avenue entrances and proceed to park in either the parking structure, the lot closest to the water tower, adjacent to the parking structure or the parking lot located closet to Woodward.
Chaperones should NOT park in the 10 Mile lot with the buses.
Zoo Admissions
Lead Teachers
Please ensure the lead teacher is at the front of the line when approaching the queue and waits for all buses and students to arrive before entering. Once your group is ready, the lead teacher will receive a “school group ready” paddle and be directed to a queue line.
Chaperones
Chaperones must wait in the designated areas until called upon to join school group. Chaperones who are Detroit Zoo members may enter through the main admission gates, located at the front of the Zoo, and wait to join their group until all members make their way onto Zoo grounds.
Chaperones who arrive to the Zoo after their group’s prepaid total has been paid in full must purchase a separate admission ticket to enter the Zoo.
