GreenPrize
Show support for animals, your school and the Great Lakes. Organize, strategize and earn a GreenPrize!
The Detroit Zoological Society (DZS) GreenPrize Award Program is an opportunity for school administrators, faculty and student groups from Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties to compete for one of four bundles that support the DZS’s mission and allow schools to test out sustainability practices. The bundles are designed to support student leaders to undertake pilot projects in their schools that benefit their community, the environment and the Great Lakes.

How does it work?
GreenPrize is open to all interested tri-county schools (comprised of fifth to 12th grades) seeking to become recognized as a Michigan Green School in the upcoming school year. Special consideration will be given to school groups organized as EcoClubs and Green Teams that meet outside of classroom hours. Currently, funding is available for Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties, however, we invite surrounding counties to share their interest to help guide the growth of this program. Teams must have a staff or faculty adviser.
New this year, pre-packaged bundles will be offered as the GreenPrize award (approximate value = $1,500), saving school administrators and faculty their time and effort in designing projects. School advisers must pre-register and rank their preference from a curated list of impactful sustainability projects designed to enhance their communities.
