Boo at the Nature Zoo returns October 31

October 15, 2015

DETROIT, Mich.,

The Belle Isle Nature Zoo will host its seventh annual Boo at the Nature Zoo Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Children are encouraged to wear costumes and bring treat bags as Halloween treats will be provided to all who attend.  Guests are asked to join the Detroit Zoological Society (DZS) on its green journey by bringing their own trick-or-treat bags; bags will not be handed out at the event.

Guests can go on a scavenger hunt and walk an indoor forest trail to search for treats to the sounds of Halloween.  All Boo at the Nature Zoo activities are free.

“This annual event provides a great way for families to get into the Halloween spirit,” said DZS Executive Director and CEO Ron Kagan.  “It’s a fun and safe way to go trick-or-treating in a unique and beautiful setting.”

Operated by the DZS, the Belle Isle Nature Zoo sits on a 5-acre site surrounded by undisturbed forested wetlands on Belle Isle in Detroit, Mich.  The facility features indoor animal habitats, a bee exhibit, bird observation window, outdoor native butterfly garden, outdoor classrooms and the Blue Heron Lagoon nature trail.  A Deer Encounter allows guests to feed the fallow deer while learning about their history.
