All March Long

Celebrate National Reading Month at the Detroit Zoo! Though we are known for the animals who call the Zoo home, we are also roaring with excitement at the chance to celebrate learning and literacy with our guests all March long.

In collaboration with PBS, we are proud to offer two exciting events this March that will foster a wild love of reading!

Zoo Tales Story Trail

Embark on an immersive adventure through the Zoo Tales Story Trail, a captivating blend of nature and personal narrative brought to life in conjunction with PBS’s Learn Everywhere Challenge. Join us as we weave an enchanting tale of wildlife into an interactive journey, where every step reveals a new chapter of discovery.

The Story Trail tells the story of “A Crash in the Night” on 14 posts throughout the front of the Zoo. Trek the Trail to read, explore and be inspired as the stories of the wild come alive in this innovative collaboration between the Detroit Zoo and PBS. Enhance your experience by downloading the Learn Everywhere Challenge app, which helps deepen your connection to the natural world as you explore the Trail!

The Zoo Tales Story Trail is open March 1-31.
