Tons of Trucks

Free for members, $3 non-members | Detroit Zoo parking lot (Zoo admission and parking not included)

Interact with vehicles of all shapes and sizes at the Detroit Zoo. At Tons of Trucks, you’ll touch and climb trucks, lifts and carts used by Detroit Zoo staff, and see vehicles from local police and fire departments, construction companies and more. While you’re here, don’t forget to snap a photo or two with a Detroit Zoo mascot!

Not only is Tons of Trucks tons of fun, but it also connects us to our community. Municipal organizations build, protect and serve the community, so get to know them better at this interactive event at the Detroit Zoo.

What Can We Expect at Tons of Trucks?

  • An exploration of vehicles from various local organizations and companies
  • Interactions with Zoo staff and local officials
  • Face painting
  • Ed-zoo-cation stations featuring Detroit Zoo staff
  • Photographs with a Zoo mascot
  • An obstacle course and axe throwing
  • The opportunity to meet PAWS, the official mascot of the Detroit Tigers, from 10 a.m. to noon

Tons of Trucks allows visitors to learn about those who work in local communities, as well as how DZS staff and partners care for the 125-acre Zoo.
