Behind-the-scenes volunteer opportunities provide a rewarding experience that supports Celebrating and Saving Wildlife and Wild Places.

 

Behind-The-Scenes Volunteer

These specialized opportunities support life science, administrative and education staff. Options may include animal observation, preparing samples for studies or supporting education staff to prepare program materials.

  • Training and shifts vary by assignment
  • Seasonal shifts 2-3 hours

 

Our application process is now closed. If you are interested in volunteering for our fall and winter special events – Run Wild, Zoo Boo or Spooky Spirits, please email volunteer@dzs.org. Volunteer Orientation sessions will resume spring 2024.

  • How Does it work – Volunteer Opportunities

    Steps to become a volunteer:

    1.   Complete an on-line application
    2.   Receive and return a background check form
      please note: all adult volunteers are required to complete and pass a criminal background check
    3.   Receive an invitation to attend an on-line new volunteer orientation
    4.   Sign up and attend on-line orientation
    5.   Purchase required uniform t-shirt ($10.00)
    6.   Start volunteering!
